Frequently Asked Questions
How is green chilli powder different from red chilli powder?
Green chilli is picked before it ripens, so it
has a fresh, sharp heat and green colour. Red chilli is fully ripe and gives a deeper, smoky heat and red
colour.
How much fresh green chilli makes 1 kg of dehydrated green chilli?
Roughly 7 to 9 kg of fresh green
chillies go into 1 kg of flakes or powder, depending on the crop.
How do I use it in place of fresh green chilli?
As a general rule, 1/4 teaspoon of powder or 1/2 teaspoon
of flakes equals about one fresh green chilli. Adjust to taste.
Does your green chilli contain added colour?
No. The green colour comes naturally from the chillies.
What is the shelf life?
12 months from the date of packing when stored in a cool, dry place in its
original sealed pack.
Can you supply custom flake sizes or mesh?
Yes. Share the size or mesh you need and we will process
the batch to match.
